We have included a few pictures of popular things to do while staying at the cottage. The Sweetbriar photo and the photo preceding it, are located at  the Sweetbriar cabin area on the river. I highly recommend taking a walk through the cabin area there and looking at the falls, the adorable cabins, the river and Castle Crags. Go south on I-5 and take the Sweetbriar exit. The falls are across the bridge and directly to the right. The cabins and the river view, Castle Crags view are unbelieveable. You must go check it out! Fish the Sacramento or McCloud Rivers. Downhill Ski or Snow Board at the Shasta Board and Ski Park only 15 minutes drive from the cottage. Watch the trains while you sip coffee at the local cafes.  Hike to Hedge Creek Falls,  Mossbrae Falls or the Dunsmuir City Park. Hike Castle Crags in Castella only a 10 minute drive south. Canoe Lake Siskiyou or Castle Lake ( our two favorites)  in Mt. Shasta.  Ice Skate at the Mt. Shasta Ice Skating Rink. Ice Fish at Castle Lake. Cross Country Ski in McCloud or Mt. Shasta. Snow Mobile at the Snow Mobile Park in McCloud and you can rent Snow Mobiles in McCloud as well if you don't have your own or take the family sledding at Snowman's Hill on Highway 89 on the way to McCloud. By the way we have included a few pictures of McCloud. Make sure to drop in the McCloud Hotel especially on a Sunday afternoon. They have delightful music and welcome visitors. You can also peek in on one of the train carts if you are interested in  the Shasta Sunset Dinner Train. We have included a dinner cart in the pics here. Not shown but a must to see or stay at is The Guest House in McCloud. It is award winning and the owner and her daughter are our dear friends. Last of all the McCloud Mercantile and the Candy Shoppe in McCloud are worth the drive over the hill....and much , much more......... The remaining photos are pics of the cottage, the Old Southern Pacific Depot, Mt. Shasta illuminated and Castle Crags.
